During the interviews, we found that people are annoyed by not being able to communicate very well virtually. There are a lot of things missing in text, such as sight and sound, which are important cues to know what the other person is thinking or trying to communicate. Video chat provides sight and sound, but it’s always a chaos to do a group video chat. However, people are not always annoyed by the virtual communication. When we look deeply into the complain about virtual communication, they are annoyed usually when they are trying to talk about some big concept or discussing about decisions need to be made. Therefore, other than thinking about how to improve the communication, we also need to think about what kind of information will need be exchanged in our project, and what are the best ways to enable those communication.

(For example, one of the interviewers was very satisfied by the commenting function of google doc, because it enables him to point out some minor mistakes or questions without interrupting other people. However, at the same time, he is also aware that he cannot convey some complex ideas via the comment function.)
