Prototype V3
OUR
Improvements Over V2
What we'd do with more time
After our second round of testing, we found that while players were more engaged than our first prototype, we still had changes that needed to be made. Some players found the instructions too confusing and spent more time than necessary trying to understand how to play the game. Furthermore, players found the game a little overwhelming at first because they were presented with so much content all at once (like the instructions, game boards, and color key). We also ran into some issues dividings players up into groups based on their location in the room. While we provided instructions to players, there were still a significant amount of issues getting players into their assigned section that we are looking to streamline.
With version 3, we are looking to fix all the issues we found in version 2. While versions 1 and 2 were piggyback prototypes using Google Sheets, version 3 will be a native iOS and Android application found in the respective app stores. By making our game a native app, we streamline a lot of the issues we ran into in prototype 2. Designing prototype version 3 on mobile, allowed users to be automatically put into groups while also allowing us to progressively disclose information in more consumable amounts lessening the stress of first time users. We also give more freedom to the user by allowing players to vote on the category they want to create along with a visual timer so that the user always knows how much time they have left to create. At the end of the game, people are able to understand how their picture fit into the Mad Lib story.
